About Marchesi Antinori Tenuta Guado al Tasso
Piero Antinori, the guiding force behind the Antinori family’s contemporary period and the family’s most game-changing... wines, took his time to release his first Super-Tuscan wine from his Guado al Tasso estate. Piero recognized the great potential of his lands located in the acclaimed Bolgheri Bowl, a natural amphitheater located about 60 miles southwest of Siena, that was drenched with sunlight during the day and cooled at night from sea breezes. Moreover, Guado al Tasso possessed clay-rich alluvial soils with very fine gravel, the distinctive feature that makes Bolgheri wines rich in minerality and lends them their characteristic terroir. While Antinori’s Guado al Tasso had crafted world-famous rosé wines since the 1970s, and although the land’s viticultural history stretches back to the seventeenth century, the estate’s initial premiere red wine, Guado al Tasso, didn’t come on the scene until 1994; however, this blockbuster Super Tuscan made up for lost time and quickly gained global recognition. Growing a selection of Bordeaux-style grape varietals as well as Vermentino, Guado Al Tasso crafts blockbuster reds — including the original flagship Guado al Tasso and the estate’s rising star, the cult Cabernet Franc, Matarocchio.Prunotto

About Prunotto
Located in the rolling hills of Alba, Piemonte, the Prunotto estate epitomizes the timeless beauty and effortless elegance of the Langhe. Founded in 1904,... Prunotto began as a wine cooperative formed in Serralunga and presided over by Alfredo Prunotto. Beppe Colla assumed control of the estate in 1956 and expanded Prunotto’s success with a savvy strategy of researching the finest vineyard sites, purchasing the best grapes, and experimenting with cru bottlings. The Antinori family started distributing Prunotto’s wine in 1989 and assumed control of the estate in 1994. In a project spearheaded by Albiera Antinori, Prunotto recreated itself with an eye to wines defined by very specific terroir. Albiera began researching and purchasing specific vineyards, eventually amassing 161 acres that spread across the Langhe and Monferrato, with holdings in the legendary Barolo vineyards of Vigna Colonnello, Bussia, Bric Turot, as well as Barbera’s Pian Romualdo, Barbaresco’s Secondine, and many more. Under Albiera’s careful stewardship, Prunotto has not merely regained its former glory — it has surpassed it, cementing this venerable winemaker as one of the very best that Piemonte has to offer.Podere Grattamacco

About Grattamacco
Founded in 1977 by Piermario Meletti Cavallari, Grattamacco is a powerhouse producer of Super-Tuscan wine, yet this Bolgheri estate remains somewhat of an... underdog. Grattamacco is Bolgheri's second Super Tuscan estate — only Tenuta San Guido, whose Sassicaia vineyards abut those of Grattamacco, preceded it — and it has always held a special place in the hearts of savvy wine lovers. Grattamacco, now owned by ColleMassari who also owns Poggio di Sotto in Montalcino, spans 67 acres across one of Bolgheri’s only hills. Grattamacco may rest in the shadows of its more famous neighbors, but its wines are first class, and in-the-know buyers snap up the estate’s small output of elegant, finessed, and silky every chance they get.Marchesi Antinori Tenuta Tignanello

About Marchese Antinori Tenuta Tignanello
The Antinori family’s Tenuta Tignanello is a gently hilly property located between that the family has owned since the 1800s. This... 321-acre Tuscan estate gets its name — Tignanello — from its most famous vineyard, but its vines grow the grapes for multiple wines. When Piero Antinori was searching to add his own voice to the Super-Tuscan revolution in the late 1960s, he turned to Giacomo Tachis, the consulting winemaker behind Sangiovese, as well as Ornellaia. Piero wanted to make wines that reflected his family’s Tuscan heritage, and in 1971, Tignanello, a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet, and Cabernet Franc, was born. Sporting marly, limestone-rich soils that show remnants of the Pliocene Period when the region was covered in an ocean, Tenuta Tignanello enjoys sunny days, cool nights, and a gentle breeze, ideal conditions for wines that sing with a true Tuscan voice. This estate is home to three of Antinori's crown jewels: Solaia, Tignanello, and Chianti Classico Riserva.Tenuta di Carleone

About Tenuta di Carleone
While Tenuta di Carleone di Castiglioni seems like a new estate — it was established only in 2012 — this winery in Radda, Chianti, has a long... history behind it. The monks of Badia al Coltibuono founded the first winemaking venture on these lands in 1078, and the Carleone’s 494 acres (74 under vine) had been home to various winemaking enterprises for centuries. The modern age of Carleone was born when Austrian businessman Karl Egger and his sister, Kristine, partnered with winemaker Sean O’Callaghan with a shared vision of creating ultra-elegant, terroir-driven, wholly natural wines. Today’s Carleone estate has spread beyond Radda with plots in Gaiole and Vagliagli as well. Sean, the “one-eyed bandit” who inspired the estate’s cult wine Il Guerico, employs a range of artisanal techniques in his winemaking that can include foot-stomping; using whole clusters; open-top fermentation in cement or wood; and aging in steel, vats, or amphorae — whatever he thinks will give the estate’s natural, unfiltered wines the greatest “bevibilità,” or drinkability.Prunotto

About Azienda Agricola Cerbaia
Located above the fog line high on the Montosoli hill just north of Montalcino, Cerbaia is neither very large nor very old. This organic 29-acre... estate (fewer than 11 acres under vine) was founded in 1978, but despite its relative youth and diminutive size, Cerbaia is one of Brunello’s rising stars and definitely an estate to watch! Agronomist Fabio Pellegrini chose Montosoli for his estate because he saw tremendous potential in the subregion’s galestro soil because this clayey, rocky dirt was ideal for the cultivation of small-berried, thick-skinned Brunello grapes. Fabio ran Cerbaia until 2014, which his daughter, Elena, assumed control. In trading her career in finance for that of a winemaker, Elena was making a big life change, but her gamble is paying off. Cerbaia may average only 1,500 cases of Brunello every vintage, but eyes are on Cerbaia’s wines. Traditional, aromatic, long-aging, and terroir-driven, Cerbaia’s Brunello releases have everything to please the wine’s many, many fans!Marchesi Antinori

About Badia a Passignano
One of the Antinori family of estates, Badia a Passignano sits on just over 550 acres in the heart of Chianti Classico in Sambuca Val di Pesa, a few... miles south of Antinori's Tignanello estate. Badia a Passignano has grown Sangiovese for millennia, and therefore it was a natural decision for the Antinori family to dedicate this winery to the production of Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, the crème de la crème of Chianti’s wines. Like a fairytale fortress in the heart of Chianti Classico, Badia a Passignano's stone walls rise out of a thicket of cypress trees, and this former abbey, originally built at some point between 395 and 891, has played home to the Vallombrosian order, an arm of the Benedictine monks, for centuries — in fact, the Vallombrosian monks, who specialize in viniculture and forestry, continue to live on the premises. In 1987, the Antinori family bought the land surrounding the abbey, and the Antinori family uses the abbey’s ancient cellars to age its Chianti Classico Gran Selezione.Castiglion del Bosco

About Castiglion del Bosco
Located in the northwest of Montalcino, Castiglion del Bosco is something very special. This estate, purchased by Massimo Ferragamo in 2003, is... surrounded by the Val d’Orcia Parco Naturale, a protected natural preserve. Beyond its pristine location, Castiglion del Bosco has a history that goes back to 600 BC, and the estate was one of the founding members of the Brunello Consortium. Castiglion del Bosco boasts 153 acres of vineyards in two sites, the 50-acre Gauggiole in the north and the 103-acre Capanna vineyard in the south. Gauggiole sports clayey, rocky soils that grow fresh, robust Brunello berries primarily used in the estate’s Rosso di Montalcino, while Capanna’s rocky, gravelly vines see greater diurnal temperature changes that makes its grapes perfect for the winery’s complex, vibrant Brunello. Winemaker Cecilia Leoneschi works diligently to preserve terroir, local traditions, and a strong connection to the soil in making her expressive, elegant wines. An ancient estate with a regal history, Castiglion del Bosco sees a bright, beautiful future with its wines that honor tradition and while appealing to a broad range of sophisticated palates.Prunotto

About Marchesi Antinori Prunotto
Located in the rolling hills of Alba, Piemonte, the Prunotto estate epitomizes the timeless beauty and effortless elegance of the Langhe.... Founded in 1904, Prunotto began as a wine cooperative formed in Serralunga and presided over by Alfredo Prunotto. But as optimistic as the young Alfredo felt, the economic punch of WWI hit the coop’s farmers hard, and it disbanded. Alfredo, however, was there to pick up the pieces, taking control of the négociant Barolo house and shepherding it into financial success through marketing the wine to foreign buyers. Under Albiera’s careful stewardship, Prunotto has not merely regained its former glory — it has surpassed it, cementing this venerable winemaker as one of the very best that Piemonte has to offer.
