Cantina del Taburno
Aglianico del Tabruno Fidelis 2017
The 2017 Aglianico Fidelis took me by surprise. I usually only like dry, tannic Aglianicos from Mastroberardino, for example, but I had this bottle before my... tasting on Wed. We opened it the night before with some pizza and the two of us drank the whole bottle without even realizing it. The secret of this wine? There a 10% blend of Sangiovese and Merlot that helps keep the racy and super structured Aglianico grape in check; I was floored. This simple wine drank seamlessly, was balanced, was fruit forward enough to caress the palate but not overly so. The supple, opulent quality is met with elevated acidity thanks to the vineyard altitudes ranging from 650ft to 2000ft. At $18 per bottle you get all this?? Yes please.

A DVNO WINE Exclusive:
The 2019 Tenuta Marino IGT Marche Rosato ‘Speranza’ was my first wine from this estate. Made from 75% Sangiovese and 25% Montepulciano, the former boasting an average vine... age of 20 years – about the same vine age for most well-known Tuscan wines – this bottling is one of the very best Rosé wines I have had in my career (13 years in the industry). A gorgeous, deep pink color, the clean and fresh demeanor of this 2019 bursts with delicate strawberries and raspberries in the nose. At the first sip, a smooth liquid with brilliant mouthwatering acidity glides over your palate and is utterly refreshing! The mesmerizing bouquet, elegant structure, and food pairing capability is the ideal marriage of Provence and Italian styled Rosé. The perfect Rosé? I think so, but you’ll have to find out for yourself!

Bright pink and demanding attention, this Prosecco DOC Brut Rose’ is a blend of Glera again, but this time, like a dark twin, boasts 15% Pinot Nero from a low density vineyard to increase intensity... of color and aroma. $17.99In StockAgricola Punica
Agricola Punica Samas IGT 2018
The 2018 Samas is a lovely golden, straw-yellow color that scintillates in the glass as light passes through it. There is a distinguished Mediterranean aroma in the... nose, like you’re standing on one of Sardegna’s high hilltops and looking out over the sea. The bouquet pops with tropical and citrus notes revealing a light freshness that explodes on the palate as you take your first sip. Balanced and clean with fresh lemons, tangerines and orange, there is a bit of salinity that grabs your attention. It all then vanishes with a clean finish. Wow. An extra note on the wine making process: The wine is pressed at an average temperature of 60°F and kept cool while refining. Open vats for the vinification process allow for proper yeast control and while most whites ferment for a week or two at most, this little wine ferments for 40 days...that’s crazy! After pressing and fermenting, the two wines (Vermentino and Chardonnay) are then blended and allowed to rest in concrete for 3 months unfiltered and as naturally made as possible. This attention to detail is amazing for such an affordable wine!

Primosic Collio Pinot Grigio
Hailing from Collio, the famous Italian white region of northern Italy, Primosic has been producing mostly white wines since the late 1960s. Primosic himself was one of... the founders of the Collio DOC in 1967 and he, like Gravner and Radikon, has been one of the pioneers in making incredible wines from this region become a worldly affair. Their Pinot Grigio has a bright minerality thanks to the calcareous and sandy soils of the vineryards and a fresh, clean finish you want in a house-styled white in the price point. You’ll love this!
