Grattamacco’s flagship always punches above its weight, and in 2019 the estate’s Bolgheri Rosso Superiore feels rich and juicy, and it crackles with... energy. Brambly berries and crisp red fruits layer with balsamic herbs, peppery spices, melted dark chocolate, black licorice, warm earth, and kisses of oak and vanilla. Tannins are tight yet silky; acidity is perfectly balanced by sweet fruits; the 2019 Grattamacco, a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon with 20% Merlot and 15% Sangiovese, is approachable upon release, but your patience will be rewarded with time.
