About Krug

Founded in 1843 Johann-Josef Krug, Krug is not particularly old by Champagne standards, yet it is indisputably one of the region’s best, most distinguished... houses. As it has for more than a century, Krug ferments its wines in small oak barrels that have been blasted with water and then seasoned by storing wines to keep the oak to a minimum; afterwards, they age their wines in stainless steel. Although now owned by LVMH Moët-Hennessey, the Krug family remains involved in the direction of the house, which maintains its painstaking, time-honored approach to crafting fine Champagnes. Chef de Cave Eric Lebel stepped down in 2020, when Julie Cavil, who had served as his assistant for more than a decade, took the reins for the estate. When it comes to Champagne, it's hard to imagine surpassing the quality, detail, painstaking process, and commitment to tradition that Krug maintains; each of the estate’s wines offers a unique, classic, and textured Champagne experience.
