About Marchesi Antinori Viña Haras de Pirque
In 2017, the Antinori family purchased the Haras de Pirque estate from the Matte family, cementing the Antinori presence in... Chile. Antinori first partnered with the Mattes in 2002 to create Albis, Haras de Pirque’s flagship wine. Today, the estate spans 247 acres of organically grown vineyards, along with a state-of-the-art gravitational wine cellar, and a thoroughbred horse breeding farm. Haras de Pirque’s trellised vineyards are planted primarily to Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay, along with Merlot and select Bordeaux grapes. Sitting between 1,804 to 2,100 feet above sea level, near the foothills of the Cordillera de los Andes, these lands have sublime microclimates that boast gentle Pacific breezes, volcanic soils, terrific diurnal temperature swings, and long, sunny growing seasons. Haras de Pirque currently crafts six wines in the trademark Antinori style that marries bold, delicious profiles with Italian sophistication and finesse.Marchesi Antinori Viña Haras de Pirque Albis 2018
Silky and powerful, the 2018 Albis unwraps slowly to reveal its many layers — succulent wild berries, ripe plums, new... leather, peppery spices, melted chocolate, and lots of pipe tobacco. This blend of 70% Cab Sauv and 30% Carménère is bold yet sneaky, with a nice substantial mouthfeel, lots of chewy tannins, and a surprising, nuanced palate that builds to a lingering, berry-laden finish. The child of a super-temperate, extended growing season, the 2018 Albis has fantastic potential, but you can dive in right now with proper decanting.About Marchesi Antinori Viña Haras de Pirque
