Agricola Punica Montessu IGT 2021
There’s no question about it: the 2021 Montessu punches far above its weight. This 2021 is terrific, showing brambly berries and succulent cherries that are framed by violet potpourri, exotic spices, crushed river rocks, orange peel, and licorice. This mid-weight, luscious wine studs the cheeks with chewy tannins, saline minerals, and loads of dry extract, but its sturdy acidic spine keeps it nimble into its lingering finish. A blend of 60% Carignano, 10% Cab Sauv, 10% Merlot, and 5% Syra, this wine spends a year in barrique. Enjoyable now and over the mid-term, maybe longer.
