Arianna Occhipinti SM Vino di Contrada Sicilia Bianco IGT 2022
One of the most exciting, unique Italian whites available, this 2022 SM Bianco, a mono-varietal Grillo, magically melds cheek-piquing citrus, crisp orchard fruits, and juicy stone fruits with serious minerality, ginger slices, crushed wild herbs, and a touch of cedar. This wine has a texture like flocked velvet — the seamless meshing of subtle tannins and zesty, citrusy acidity creates tension that lingers well into the lingering finish. This phenomenal wine hails from a high-elevation sandy calcareous plot that Arianna Occhipinti acquired in 2016 in the contrada of Santa Margherita, where it’s surrounded by ancient olive groves, pine trees, and oaks.
