Tasting Notes
Will Di Nunzio 92
Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino 2003
The growing season of 2003 was unusually hot in Montalcino, but Biondi-Santi’s Brunello is unbelievably harmonious, nicely acidic, and remarkably persistent. Now with more than two decades of age, this wine layers its sour cherries and brambly berries with fig compote, forest floor, brown spices, warm earth, and touches of truffles and crème brûlée. Tannins feel like flocked velvet, but there’s plenty of acidic power behind this wine as it glides to a lingering, unforgettable finish. Enjoy this wine now or a decade from now — it’ll be amazing.
