Tasting Notes
Will Di Nunzio 92
Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino 2004
A refined, sophisticated, and ethereal expression of its landmark vintage, Biondi-Santi’s 2004 Brunello drinks like a legacy to its maker, Franco Biond-Santi. Now with two decades of age, this wine has crept into its drinking window, and just the faintest touches of tertiary tar, black tea, soy, and truffles are beginning to shade the primary crunchy red and blue fruits; fresh mint, saddle leather, brown spices, and rose petals dance in the background. Tannins feel smooth and silky, but there’s plenty of that telltale Biondi-Santi austere acidity in the mix — a true collector’s dream, this wine will drink for another decade, likely longer.
