Cupano Brunello di Montalcino 2019
A wine of terrific elegance and outstanding complexity, Cupano’s 2019 Brunello seamlessly welds intensity with subtlety. Violet petals, black tea, exotic spices, balsamic herbs, and a kiss of blood orange frame the transparent cherry and berry fruits in this benchmark Brunello. This wine seems to float on the palate, supported by chewy, grainy tannins, while chalky minerality and fine acidity offset the wine’s luscious fruits. A fitting testament to estate founder Lionel Cousin, who passed away in 2021, this ultra-silky 2019 Brunello has the stuffing to age for fifteen years, likely longer.
