About Mamete Prevostini
Fewer than 50 acres in the pristine Valtellina subregion, located in northern Italy’s Lombardia, Mamete Prevostini is something of a cult superstar... in the making. The Prevostini family has been living in Valtellina’s craggy Alpine hills for generations; indeed, this family-owned-and-operated estate saw its start in the 1920s, when Mamete started making his own wine to accompany the fine food he served in his restaurant. In addition to its award-winning Chiavennasca bottlings, Prevostini also crafts a range of whites and rosés, which derive from lower altitude vineyards. Prevostini grows its grapes sustainably, and it vinifies its wines in its state-of-the-art carbon-neutral cantina, aging them in natural crotti, of caves, which dot the region. Winemaker-owner Mamete Prevostini, grandson of the founder, sees his natural — and naturally delicious — winemaking as a commitment to nature and to tradition. Remarkable expressions of their Dolomite terroir, Prevostini’s wines evoke the clear mountain air, sparkling sunshine, and rare alpine microclimates.About Sassetti Livio Pertimali
While the Sassetti family have been farmers for many generations, they’ve been working as vine-growers and winemakers for four generations.... A founding member of the Brunello Consortium in 1967, Livio Sassetti inherited his family’s passion for wine, and he wanted the chance to estate-bottle his own Brunello, so in the early 1970's he purchased his own plot of land in Montosoli and founded the Pertimali estate, named for a cottage on the property. The 39-acre Pertimalli Sassetti estate now rests in the hands of Livio’s sons, Lorenzo and Luciano, who join him in the production of elegant, complex, and aromatic wines that marry the distinctive Montalcino terroir with the structure of Burgundy. In addition to Pertimali Sassetti, the Sassetti family of estates includes La Querciolina in Umbria and Colle Argento in Valdobbiadene.
About Poderi Aldo Conterno
Poderi Aldo Conterno rose to fame by crafting some of the best-known, best-loved cru Barolo expressions in its Barolo Romirasco, Colonnello, and... Cicala, as well as its Chardonnay Bussiador and its Quartetto, a red wine that blends Nebbiolo with international grapes. In 1969, Aldo Conterno famously parted ways with his brother at their father’s estate, Giacomo Conterno, and founded Poderi Aldo Conterno in the “Favot” cellar on 61 acres in Bussia of Monforte d'Alba, the heart of Barolo country. Aldo’s vision was to craft wines that blended traditional structure, grace, and longevity with exquisitely transparent terroir, seductive juiciness, and a clearly defined personality. Before his death in 2012, Aldo achieved all this and more, creating a winemaking legacy that set him apart as one of the world’s greatest winemakers.
