Tasting Notes
Will Di Nunzio 93
Domaine Billaud-Simon Chablis Tête d’Or 2020
The 2020 Chablis Tête d’Or shows a pale golden-green in the glass, a shade that matches its freshness and richness. Crisp pears and crunchy apples, acacia blossoms, white pepper, subtle baking spices, wildflower honey, and oyster shell unfold in this utterly delicious Chablis. A steely minerality matches the wine’s weighty, satiny mouthfeel, while zesty acidity adds verve and a lovely counterweight. A cuvée of the best grapes grown in in village-level plots, the Tête d’Or sees only a portion of the grapes aging for a short time in French oak; this protocol helps to make a wine of extraordinary creaminess and intensity. Enjoyable now, this wine will drink to the end of the decade, likely longer.
