About 38 acres scattered across the northern Côte de Beaune, Domaine Edmond Cornu & Fils got its start in 1875 as a négociant wine house, but the winery entered its modern age in 1959 when its namesake, Edmond, began to estate-bottle its wines. Still family-owned-and-operated, Edmond Cornu is helmed by Edmond’s son, Pierre, though Edmond still lends his advice on vine-growing and winemaking. The domaine uses sustainable methods in its vineyards, and it employs traditional protocol, including hand-picking and hand-sorting, in crafting its 16 or so different appellations. Above all, Edmond Cornu wants its wines to show “delicacy, finesse, and elegance” while articulating their individual terroir. Hard to find yet easy to enjoy, the wines of Domaine Edmond Cornu are perfect undiscovered gems for Burgundy lovers.
