About Villa S.Anna
Located in the village of Abbadia di Montepulciano the hills of southern Tuscany, Villa S. Anna (originally spelled Villa Sant’Anna) stands as a standard... bearer of traditional Vino di Montepulciano. Villa S.Anna is owned and operated by three women: matriarch Simona Ruggeri Fabroni and her two daughters, Anna and Margherita. Simona’s family had owned the land that’s now Villa S.Anna for centuries, quietly making some wine for personal consumption and selling off the rest of the grapes to other producers. In 1989, Simona decided to begin estate-bottling her wines, and Villa S.Anna was born. Over the past three decades, Simona and her daughters have increased their vineyard holdings to about 25 acres, mostly in the two regions of Chianti Colli Senesi and Vino Nobili Montepulciano, and today this small estate crafts four wines, each one representative of its Tuscan land, Tuscan traditions, and the passion of three Tuscan women.About Tenuta San Guido
Sassicaia is arguably Italy’s most famous bottle of wine, and its maker, Tenuta San Guido, is Italian wine aristocracy. Sassicaia and its Super-Tuscan... revolution changed the face of Italian wine — and it catapulted Tenuta San Guido into the highest echelon of wine producers. Today, Marchese Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta continues in his father’s footsteps even as he prepares to hand over San Guido estate to his son, Sebastian Rosa. Over the years, Tenuta San Guido expanded its vineyards to encompass 190 acres, planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and the estate expanded its lineup to include “second” wine Guidalberto and entry-level Le Difese. Debuting with the 2000 vintage, Guidalberto holds fast to its ideal of accessibility upon release, but over the years, it has grown more refined, polished, and elegant. Le Difese, debuting with the 2003 vintage, does the work of the estate's "everyday" wine, but when Tenuta San Guido makes it, the “everyday” wine is still a reason to celebrate. Tenuta San Guido’s outstanding Guidalberto and Le Difese bottlings add even more luster to Italy’s premier Super-Tuscan estate.About Azienda Agricola La Torre
"La Torre" translates to "the tower," and this exciting Montalcino estate spreads across almost 90 acres in Sesti, near Sant’Angelo in Colle,... though fewer than 14 acres are under vine. Owner-winemaker Luigi Anania purchased this estate in 1976, and the winery saw its inaugural Brunello vintage in 1982, one of the truly fabled years of the last century. Anania and his team use non-interventionist practices in the vineyard and traditional winemaking in the cellar to craft La Torre’s terroir-driven, accessible wines. The most remarkable aspect of La Torre is the elevation of its vineyards. Perched at about 1,500 feet above sea level in the southwestern Brunello subzone, these naturally terraced, limestone-rich vineyards are high enough to enjoy gentle breezes coming off the Tyrrhenian Sea, which helps La Torre’s Sangiovese Grosso grapes ripen fully, while escaping heat and dryness. La Torre’s delicious, enjoyable, and traditional Brunello wines are true gems, especially at their relatively affordable price point.About Marchesi Antinori Tenuta Tignanello
The Antinori family’s Tenuta Tignanello is a gently hilly property located between that the family has owned since the 1800s. This... 321-acre Tuscan estate gets its name — Tignanello — from its most famous vineyard, but its vines grow the grapes for multiple wines. When Piero Antinori was searching to add his own voice to the Super-Tuscan revolution in the late 1960s, he turned to Giacomo Tachis, the consulting winemaker behind Sangiovese, as well as Ornellaia. Piero wanted to make wines that reflected his family’s Tuscan heritage, and in 1971, Tignanello, a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet, and Cabernet Franc, was born. Sporting marly, limestone-rich soils that show remnants of the Pliocene Period when the region was covered in an ocean, Tenuta Tignanello enjoys sunny days, cool nights, and a gentle breeze, ideal conditions for wines that sing with a true Tuscan voice. This estate is home to three of Antinori's crown jewels: Solaia, Tignanello, and Chianti Classico Riserva.Produttori del Barbaresco
Known as the “Queen of Wines,” Barbaresco as we know it came into being more or less synchronically with Produttori del Barbaresco. A wine... collective of around 55 members, Produttori del Barbaresco began at the end of the nineteenth century with about nine vine-growers, and this group shaped Barbaresco’s identity as we know it today. The Produttori disbanded in the 1930s because of war and Italy’s fascism, but it reformed in 1958, and today this collective, which covers more than 250 acres, is arguably the finest wine collective in the world. The Produttori is dedicated to growing Nebbiolo, and in every vintage, it produces a blended Barbaresco as well as a Langhe Nebbiolo — in very fine years, the group also crafts up to nine cru Barbaresco Riserva bottlings. Consistent high quality, traditional methods, and true telegraphing of terroir work together to distinguish Produttori del Barbaresco’s wines, and Barbaresco lovers, critics, and connoisseurs can’t get enough of this collective’s remarkable, authentic wines. No account yet?
