Will Di Nunzio 96
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2eme Cru Classé Saint-Julien 2019
The 2019 flagship from Ducru-Beaucaillou has been hailed as the wine of the vintage for the Médoc, and there’s no disputing that this inky, powerful, and sophisticated wine is deeply impressive. The wine leaps from the glass with a profusion of notes — cassis, blackberries, pencil lead, fresh earth, cigar box, licorice, orange peel, and exotic spices, to name but a few. Possessing substantial powdery tannins, exquisite acidity, loads of dry extract, and 14.5% alcohol, this 2019 Saint-Julien needs time in the cellar, but a few years will reveal its rare welding of delicate complexity, profound perfume, and refined, aristocratic power. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot aged for 18 months in new oak, this 2019 Ducru-Beaucaillou is a wine for the ages!
