Tasting Notes
Will Di Nunzio 93
Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo Riserva 1964
It’s hard to believe this wine is more than 60 years old. Dried rose petals, forest floor, tarry earth, worn leather, and subtle notes of white truffles, roasted game, and tea frame the delicate sour cherries and raisined berries in this astonishing 1964 Barolo Riserva. The star of the show is the wine’s ethereal, almost floating texture, as silky tannins feel nearly imperceptible, yet elegant acidity adds vibrance and tension. A two or three-hour decant will put this gorgeous, mature Barolo in the right place for a memorable drinking experience.
