Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Cannubi S.Lorenzo – Ravera 2007
Giuseppe Rinaldi made his Cannubi San Lorenzo-Ravera to age almost indefinitely, and the 2007 bottling is just beginning to edge into its lengthy drinking window. With its explosion of sweet raspberries and cherries, this Barolo seems deceptively youthful, and they’re backed by a seductive mélange of rose petals, white truffles, licorice, crushed wild herbs, crushed chestnuts, and touches of black tea, tar, and spice. This graceful wine is all about texture, terroir, and tradition — tannins are grainy yet silky, matched by nice acidity in a lifted, ethereal body that fills the mouth and resonates on the finish. Enjoyable now with decanting and able to age for decades to come.
