Tasting Notes
Will Di Nunzio 92
Il Censo Njuro Perricone Rosso Terre Siciliane IGT 2016
A wildly elegant wine, Njuro is a mono-varietal bottling of Perricone, known as njuro cane, or “black dog,” in local dialect. Once you try this 2016 Njuro you will never forget it. Rich, ultra-ripe plums, crunchy raspberries, and tart blackcurrants swirl in a delirious mélange of wildflowers, campfire ash, sliced fennel, pressed mint, charred earth, exotic spices, touches of grilled meat — the list goes on and on. This velvety wine snuggles the palate with chewy, silky tannins, powered by its super-fresh acidity and laced with a sturdy lashing of persistent, stony minerality. This wine is utterly delicious right now, and it’ll drink until the end of the decade, likely longer.
