Il Poggione Brunello Riserva Vigna Paganelli 2012
Upon release, the 2012 Brunello Riserva Paganelli received loads of praise for its wild combination of juiciness and restraint. Now with more than a decade of age, this wine is truly coming into its own, layering its ultra-sappy cherries and brambly berries with saddle leather, violet petals, balsamic herbs, minerals, and cigar wrappers, along with subtle tertiary notes of black tea and truffles. This wine has plenty of structure to hold its ripe fruit — chewy tannins and brisk acidity provide a compelling framework, complemented by elegant minerals and spice. Enjoyable now with aeration, this cru Brunello Riserva has decades ahead of it.
