Krug Vintage Brut Champagne 2006
Muscular, detailed, and massively complex, the 2006 Brut Champagne from Krug is drop-dead gorgeous. Layers and layers of red apples, pears, and red currants are framed by notes of sourdough bread, toasted hazelnuts, fresh earth, lemon blossoms, and touches of espresso and smoke. A blend of 48% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 17% Pinot Meunier, this wine is broad, expansive, rich, and creamy, yet it retains laser-like focus and intense energy — it’s a testament to Eric Lebel’s legendary tenure as Krug’s chef de cave. Enjoyable now, this 2006 Champagne has the stuffing to age for decades.
