    About Marchesi Antinori Le Mortelle
Located on the Maremma Coast near the family’s Guado al Tasso estate in Bolgheri, Le Mortelle was once part of a larger estate called La Badiola, created in the nineteenth century when the Duchy drained the marshy areas around Grosseto. The Antinori family purchased Le Mortelle in 1999, and the estate’s name, which comes from the region’s plentiful wild myrrh, signals the family’s green commitment. Le Mortelle isn’t merely certified organic — it also sports a state-of-the-art cellar facility constructed with natural materials and erected under the earth. Built into the side of a hill, Le Mortelle’s cantina is barely visible, but its three-story structure allows for gravity to move the wine from pressing to fermentation to aging barrels, which reduces energy and treats the wine with tender loving care. Helmed by Renzo Cotarella, the Le Mortelle team crafts a range of five fine wines using both international grape varietals like Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc, Carménère, and Voignier, as well as Vermentino and Ansonica. While Le Mortelle’s range of wines is small, the impact is great, and it’s only a matter of time before this Antinori estate achieves the renown it deserves.

    Marchesi Antinori Le Mortelle

Marchesi Antinori Le Mortelle Botrosecco 2017 750ml

Marchesi Antinori Le Mortelle Botrosecco Maremma Toscana IGT 2017 The 2017 Botrosecco is a blend of Cab Sauv and Cab Franc and a mesmerizing wine at that; I like to think of it of a baby Sassicaia... that shares this same blend. Intense and powerful on the nose, notes of blueberries, plums and dark blue fruits with an elevated aroma of tart red fruits, raspberries and strawberries, this wine delivers a eucalyptus aroma coupled with aromatic spices. A wonderful potpourri of intensity and playful fruits for all to enjoy!

    Fontodi

Fontodi ‘Filetta di Lamole’ Chianti Classico 2020 750ml

    About Fontodi

Tenuta Fontodi has everything going for it: amazing history, terrific microclimates, outstanding skill, intense passion, and great people. The estate sits the... Conca d’Oro, or golden bowl, an ideal spot for winegrowing, and the Manetti family, who has owned the 200-acre Fontodi estate since 1968, has roots in Chianti Classico that date back to 1398, the year when Chianti had its very first official designation. Although the Manettis have been terracotta makers longer than they have been vintners, their love for Toscana drives both pursuits, and, indeed, Giovanni Manetti, Fontodi’s owner-winemaker, has been the president of the Chianti Consorzio since 2018. Fontodi has made some radical changes in recent years, including removing the Cabernet Sauvignon component of its Vigna del Sorbo, making it pure Sangiovese, and opting to vinify some of their wines in amphorae. Certified organic, thoroughly traditional, and utterly bewitching, Fontodi’s wines stand as the epitome of Tuscan elegance, and that never goes out of style.

    Villa S.Anna

    Villa S.Anna Rosso di Montepulciano 2019 750ml

    WD91

    About Villa S.Anna

Located in the village of Abbadia di Montepulciano the hills of southern Tuscany, Villa S. Anna (originally spelled Villa Sant’Anna) stands as a standard... bearer of traditional Vino di Montepulciano. Villa S.Anna is owned and operated by three women: matriarch Simona Ruggeri Fabroni and her two daughters, Anna and Margherita. Simona’s family had owned the land that’s now Villa S.Anna for centuries, quietly making some wine for personal consumption and selling off the rest of the grapes to other producers. In 1989, Simona decided to begin estate-bottling her wines, and Villa S.Anna was born. Over the past three decades, Simona and her daughters have increased their vineyard holdings to about 25 acres, mostly in the two regions of Chianti Colli Senesi and Vino Nobili Montepulciano, and today this small estate crafts four wines, each one representative of its Tuscan land, Tuscan traditions, and the passion of three Tuscan women.

    Tenuta San Guido

Tenuta San Guido Le Difese Toscana IGT 2019 750ml

    WD93

    About Tenuta San Guido

Sassicaia is arguably Italy’s most famous bottle of wine, and its maker, Tenuta San Guido, is Italian wine aristocracy. Sassicaia and its Super-Tuscan... revolution changed the face of Italian wine — and it catapulted Tenuta San Guido into the highest echelon of wine producers. Today, Marchese Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta continues in his father’s footsteps even as he prepares to hand over San Guido estate to his son, Sebastian Rosa. Over the years, Tenuta San Guido expanded its vineyards to encompass 190 acres, planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and the estate expanded its lineup to include “second” wine Guidalberto and entry-level Le Difese. Debuting with the 2000 vintage, Guidalberto holds fast to its ideal of accessibility upon release, but over the years, it has grown more refined, polished, and elegant. Le Difese, debuting with the 2003 vintage, does the work of the estate's "everyday" wine, but when Tenuta San Guido makes it, the “everyday” wine is still a reason to celebrate. Tenuta San Guido’s outstanding Guidalberto and Le Difese bottlings add even more luster to Italy’s premier Super-Tuscan estate.

    Azienda Agricola La Torre

Azienda Agricola La Torre Rosso di Montalcino 2021 750ml

    WD91

    About Azienda Agricola La Torre

"La Torre" translates to "the tower," and this exciting Montalcino estate spreads across almost 90 acres in Sesti, near Sant’Angelo in Colle,... though fewer than 14 acres are under vine. Owner-winemaker Luigi Anania purchased this estate in 1976, and the winery saw its inaugural Brunello vintage in 1982, one of the truly fabled years of the last century. Anania and his team use non-interventionist practices in the vineyard and traditional winemaking in the cellar to craft La Torre’s terroir-driven, accessible wines. The most remarkable aspect of La Torre is the elevation of its vineyards. Perched at about 1,500 feet above sea level in the southwestern Brunello subzone, these naturally terraced, limestone-rich vineyards are high enough to enjoy gentle breezes coming off the Tyrrhenian Sea, which helps La Torre’s Sangiovese Grosso grapes ripen fully, while escaping heat and dryness. La Torre’s delicious, enjoyable, and traditional Brunello wines are true gems, especially at their relatively affordable price point.

    Col d'Orcia

    Col d’Orcia Brunello di Montalcino 2018 750ml

    WD95

    About Col d'Orcia

Originally from Piemonte, the Cinzano family — yes, that Cinzano family, the one that brought Vermouth to the global market —acquired the Col d’Orcia... estate in the 1970s and the winery’s Poggio al Vento soon became one of the iconic Brunello bottlings. The largest certified organic estates in all of Tuscany, Col d'Orcia's positioning on Brunello’s southwestern slope offers a warmer climate and helps the estate’s grapes become rounder, gentler, and a little less acidic than those from other parts of Montalcino. Col d'Orcia boasts albarese soil, the limestone-rich, mineral-laden earth that helps make Tuscany special. Col d’Orcia’s tenth-generation winemaker, Santiago Marone Cinzano, uses vinification techniques that are a mix of traditional and modern — for example, the estate employs both botti and barriques for aging, and this combination offers a compelling integration of power and finesse, as well as a terrific marriage of age-worthiness and drinkability.
