Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Toscana IGT 2020
It’s too early to definitively say that Le Pergole Torte is the wine of the 2020 vintage in Tuscany, but it’s unquestionably a contender. Generous yet racy, intense yet wildly detailed, and soaring yet intimate, the 2020 Le Pergole Torte is a wine of stunning proportions, balance, and depth. Rich, succulent blue and red fruits are framed with baking spices, sun-warmed loam, pencil lead, crushed violet bunches, and a kiss of oak in a kaleidoscopic wine that travels across the palate, revealing notes at every turn. This Pergole Torte feels at once weighty and electric, with its excellent dry extract supported by fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Enjoyable now with lengthy aeration, this wine will start to come into its own in a couple of years.
