Tasting Notes
Will Di Nunzio 94
Paolo Bea Pipparello Montefalco Riserva 2018
Unbelievably pure and bursting with energy, the 2018 Pipparello explodes with notes of fig jam, black cherries, cigar wrapper, brambly spices, sun-warmed earth, and tiny bursts of citrus zest. Fine-grained tannins stud the palate that crackles with electric acidity, creating enchanting tension and providing terrific structure. Giampiero Bea worked hard in crafting this fantastic, complex, and sneakily powerful wine. A blend of mostly Sangiovese with 25% Montepulciano and 15% Sagrantino, this wine is drinking now with aeration but will age very nicely over the medium term.
