Paolo Bea Santa Chiara Umbria Bianco IGT 2014
Paolo Bea’s 2014 Santa Chiara explodes out of the glass with lots of juicy stone and orchard fruits, the scent of salty caramel, white tea, peppery spices, citrus zest, pressed herbs, and crushed gravel. Reflective of its cooler, more classic (if tempestuous) year, this 2014 has structure for aging, and its near decade of maturity works to reveal complexity and texture. Fine-grained tannins, zesty acidity, a deep well of salty minerality, and terrific dry extract make this skin-contact wine an absolute stunner.
