About Podere Le Boncie
Located on the southern side of the Chianti Classico region, near Castelnuovo Berardenga, Podere Le Boncie is owned by Giovanna Morganti. Giovanna’s father had to wheel and deal to get this property but finally was able to purchase it and gift it to his talented daughter who studied enology nearby at San Felice. Thanks to her father’s belief in traditional Tuscan varietals, and ultimately the driving force behind her push to study over 300 traditional Tuscan grapes while at San Felice, Giovanna decided to plant her vineyards with some of the most classic clones of Sangiovese: Ciliegiolo, Colorino, Foglia Tonda Mammolo and Prugnolo. Using entirely biodynamic practices – hand harvesting, fermentation in open wooden vats and minimum racking – Giovanna plants a high density vineyard with over 7,000 vines per hectare making each plant compete to grow the strongest and yield the best quality grapes. The wines absolutely speak for themselves.
