Poggio di Sotto Rosso di Montalcino 2017
Rich, textured, and vibrant, the 2017 Rosso di Montalcino from cult Poggio di Sotto drinks like a dream right now, yet it has the stuffing to age for at least a decade. This wine oozes with cassis and wild berries, violet petals, forest floor, exotic spices, and touches of espresso and wet river rocks — it’s a real “baby Brunello”! Terrific racy acidity meets chewy tannins in this finely textured, deeply nuanced wine; myriad notes unfurl on the palate as this Rosso di Montalcino glides to a lingering, sustained finish. It’s a beauty!
