Tenuta Sette Ponti Crognolo Toscana IGT 2022
Juicy, minerally, intense, and flat-out delicious, the 2022 Crognolo almost pulls your ears to the glass. There’s an abundance of notes here, loads of juicy cherries and berries that give way to pipe tobacco, violet petals, freshly turned loam, blood orange, dusty stones, licorice, and peppery spices. Dusty tannins meld seamlessly with keen acidity, while a sweet inner lift finds balance with stony minerality. Crognolo is composed of a rare Sangiovese clone first planted in the 1930s blended with about 20% Merlot, aged in barrique. Enjoyable now but aging nicely over the medium term.
