Tommaso Bussola TB Vigneto Alto Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2005
While the 2005 Amarone Vigneto Alto is more a chiseled, architectural, and restrained vintage, maturity has polished its edges into seductive, enticing curves. This round, exquisitely balanced wine hugs the palate with copious notes of plums, blackberries, cassis, tarry earth, melted chocolate, cigar wrapper, peppery spices, and menthol. Though the alcohol clocks in at 17.5%, this Amarone retains its finesse and balance, studding the tongue with fine-grained tannins and unspooling an elegant acidic thread. This “winemaker’s vintage” Amarone is an absolute delight!
