    Description

The best word to describe the 2018 Redigaffi is “bewitching.” This Merlot has it all — a sexy mouthfeel that is ample yet elegant, copious super-ripe fruits that remain delicate and crisp, a superb balance of fine-grained tannins and keen freshness, and early approachability combined with terrific age-worthiness. Gorgeous red and blue fruits, melted chocolate, kisses of smoky cedar and licorice, and a dusting of violets and spice make this Redigaffi an absolute stunner!

    About Tua Rita
Situated in Suvereto, south of Bolgheri on the coastline of Tuscany, the Maremma was still sparse when Rita Tua and Virgilio Bisti purchased their estate in 1984 as a vacation spot. Virgilio decided he wanted to make some wine and chose to plant the international varietals Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, which do well in Maremma’s soils that are rich in clay and silt. Those initial plantings (totaling 7.5 acres) became the source for the now revered Tua Rita Super-Tuscans, and the estate now covers just over 55 acres, and most of its vineyards are located on the mineral-rich remains of an ancient seabed. Tua Rita has remained true to its artisanal ideals and to its modest demeanor, most notably visible in the warm, grandmotherly persona of owner Rita Tua. Bearing the signature of Tua Rita’s famed consulting enologist, Luca d’Attoma, the estate’s wines remain on an upwards trajectory, delivering high quality, collectability, and seriously delicious flavor profiles.

    Isole e Olena

Isole e Olena Cepparello Toscana IGT 2019 1.5L

    AVG95

    About Isole e Olena

“Isole” and “Olena” were once two separate Tuscan wine farms, but in the 1950s, the De Marchi family purchased the properties and united them. For... years, Isole e Olena remained family-owned-and-operated, helmed by Paolo de Marchi, fourth generation winemaker and trained enologist. Paolo bought his family estate, salvaged the property, and began the slow process of renovating the buildings and vineyards. Paolo’s dedication to his vineyards, to Tuscan grapes, and to Italian winemaking made Isole e Olena a trendsetter by crafts some of Italy’s most evocative wines from its 125 acres in western Chianti Classico. In 2022, Paolo decided to sell Isole e Olena to EPI, the French group who also owns Biondi-Santi in Montalcino; however, Paolo’s son, Luca, helms the estate, ensuring the quality that this producer is beloved for. In addition to Cepparello, the estate’s renowned mono-varietal Sangiovese Super Tuscan, Isole e Olena also crafts Chianti Classico and a Vin Santo under the marquee label, as well as an array of internationally styled Super Tuscans under the Collezione de Marchi label.

    Fontodi

    Fontodi Flaccianello IGT 2020 750ml

    About Fontodi

Tenuta Fontodi has everything going for it: amazing history, terrific microclimates, outstanding skill, intense passion, and great people. The estate sits the... Conca d’Oro, or golden bowl, an ideal spot for winegrowing, and the Manetti family, who has owned the 200-acre Fontodi estate since 1968, has roots in Chianti Classico that date back to 1398, the year when Chianti had its very first official designation. Although the Manettis have been terracotta makers longer than they have been vintners, their love for Toscana drives both pursuits, and, indeed, Giovanni Manetti, Fontodi’s owner-winemaker, has been the president of the Chianti Consorzio since 2018. Fontodi has made some radical changes in recent years, including removing the Cabernet Sauvignon component of its Vigna del Sorbo, making it pure Sangiovese, and opting to vinify some of their wines in amphorae. Certified organic, thoroughly traditional, and utterly bewitching, Fontodi’s wines stand as the epitome of Tuscan elegance, and that never goes out of style.

    Antinori

1998 Marchesi Antinori Tignanello Toscana IGT 6x750ml

Intensely fruity and complex on the nose, full-bodied, rich and complex in the mouth with exceptional structure and a lengthy finish. Blend: 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet... Franc About Tenuta Tignanello: Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva, Tignanello, and Solaia Building on more than 600 years of winemaking history, the Antinori family is something of an Italian winemaking dynasty. The Antinori family has holdings not only across Italy but also around the globe, yet the family’s true home is in Chianti Classico, specifically Tenuta Tignanello, a gently hilly property located between the Greve and Pesa Valleys that the family has owned since the 1800s. This 321-acre estate gets its name — Tignanello — from its most famous vineyard, but its vines grow the grapes for a trio of wines: Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva, as well as celebrated Super-Tuscan siblings Solaia and Tignanello. When Piero Antinori was searching to add his own voice to the Super-Tuscan revolution in the late 1960s, he turned to Giacomo Tachis, the consulting winemaker behind Sangiovese, as well as Ornellaia. Piero wanted to make wines that reflected his family’s Tuscan heritage, and in 1971, Tignanello, a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet, and Cabernet Franc, was born. Solaia, or the “sunny one,” a name that reflects its 25-acre sun-drenched vineyard, followed in 1978; and 2011 saw a return to the family’s roots with the release of Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva, which derives from the Tignanello vineyard. Sporting marly, limestone-rich soils that show remnants of the Pliocene Period when the region was covered in an ocean, Tenuta Tignanello enjoys sunny days, cool nights, and a gentle breeze, ideal conditions for the grapes that make its renowned red trio, as well as its delicious Vinsanto.

    Biondi-Santi Tenuta Greppo

Biondi-Santi Tenuta Greppo Brunello di Montalcino Annata 2010 750ml

    WD95

    About Biondi-Santi Tenuta Greppo

While Ferruccio Biondi-Santi made the very first bottle of Brunello in the late 1800s, the contemporary age of Il Greppo came when Franco... Biondi-Santi took over from his father, Tancredi Biondi-Santi, and founded the Il Greppo estate in 1970. Franco’s high standards and uncompromising adherence to his forebears’ winemaking practices brought the estate to new heights, thus launching Brunello onto the world stage and setting the gold standard for traditional, age-worthy Brunello. Franco passed away in 2013, and today’s Il Greppo is helmed by Jacopo and Alessandra Biondi-Santi, Franco’s children, though French corporation EPI holds a majority stake in the estate. Under this new control, Biondi-Santi’s vines are being replanted and upgrades are being made to the cantina; however, the 67-acre Il Greppo estate continues its practice of crafting fine, age-worthy Brunello and captivating Rosso di Montalcino wines. Indeed, the estate extended the aging time of its Brunello from five to six years, and it’s started special paired releases of a recent Brunello Riserva with a mature bottling, both commitments to the belief that while time may pass, but a Biondi-Santi Brunello is eternal.

    Poggio di Sotto

2010 Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino 6x750ml

About Poggio di Sotto Founded in 1989 by Piero Palmucci, Poggio di Sotto lays claim to some of the best vines, the finest microclimates, and the greatest biodiversity to be found... in the densely populated Brunello di Montalcino region. Studies done in conjunction with the University of Florence have found about 120 different biotypes of Sangiovese Grosso growing on the estate’s 115 acres (50 under vine). But this stunning biodiversity — the source of the brightness, intense aromatics, and complexity in the estate’s wines — is just the start. Poggio di Sotto is also home to some of the region’s oldest vines, which average about 50 years of age. These factors combine with the steeply sloped, south-facing vineyards located in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, located in the southeast Brunello subzone in the shelter of nearby Mount Amiata, as well as the soil’s composition of gravel and clay in lower vineyards and sandy clay near the top of the hill. Together, the biodiversity, vine age, microclimate, and soil composition create an ideal environment for the crafting of exemplary, finessed, and powerful Brunello. Now owned by ColleMassari, who also owns Grattamacco, Poggio di Sotto continues to craft its deeply balanced wines with very traditional methods.

    Cerbaiona

Cerbaiona Brunello di Montalcino 2017 1.5L

Cerbaiona Brunello di Montalcino 2017 Deriving almost entirely from the fruit of Cerbaiona’s oldest vines, the estate’s seductive 2017 Brunello reflects its warm growing year with an open-knit,... juicy, and scrumptious profile. This Brunello shows remarkable balance and freshness, but its strongest asset is its full-throttle, drink-me-now personality that allows for almost immediate approachability (decantation is key); this is not a wine for the ages, but it will provide tremendous enjoyability over the medium term!
