Joseph Loriot-Pagel

Joseph Loriot-Pagel Special Club Champagne Brut 2014 750ml

Joseph Loriot-Pagel: “If I wasn’t a winegrower, I would be a chef” says the owner, Joseph, about himself. Intensely passionate about Champagne, the land and the traditions of this little corner... of France, Joseph Loriot-Pagel makes some unbelievable Champagnes across the board, but has produced a little masterpiece of 100% Meunier solely for export to the US. Aged five years and with e mere 3600 bottles produced, this vintage champagne, created exclusively for the Club Trésors de Champagne, is a rhapsody to the sweet, fruity crispness of Meunier, the signature of the grape variety of the Festigny vineyard. The 6th generation estate, founded in 1890, has provided most of their supply of bubbles, about 85%, mainly to France for decades and with the unique creation of the 2014 Brut they are bringing some extreme competition to the US Champagne market. You will be absolutely stunned at what is in this bottle!

Hervieux-Dumez

Hervieux-Dumez Special Club Brut Millesime 2014 750ml

Hervieux-Dumez: Like many great wineries in Europe, Hervieux-Dumez was born out of passion, a need, a little luck and the hard work of a French family from the small town of Sacy. Founder Henri... Hervieux returned to his native land in France after serving in WWI and, like many, got involved in wine sales. After some time in England to learn the language he would move back to Sacy, marry Juliette Dumez in 1920 and establish their estate Hervieux-Dumez. With a lot of hard work and the help of his whole family they managed to get this little winery off the ground and by the 1960s, they were rebuilding the cellars and were selling their wines on the grand wine stages of France. Today’s featured wine, the 2014 Hervieux-Dumez Brut Club Millésimé, like the Joseph Loriot-Pagel is made exclusively for the Club Tresors de Champagne (the Special Club) and cannot be purchased with ease in the US. This 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Meunier bottling is packed with powerful aromas that confirm its mineral character. With superb notes of dried fruit, walnuts and grilled hazelnuts appearing after airing, the wine continues to reveal subtle notes of gingerbread. Fresh, lifted with toasted notes throughout, the beautiful line of acidity throughout this 2014 is a Champagne lover’s dream.
