Fontodi Chianti Classico 2019 750ml

Fontodi Chianti Classico 2019

Fontodi’s 2019 Chianti Classico is a standout in this vintage — wonderfully structured for both immediate enjoyment and nice longevity, this... wine has it all! Savory notes of forest floor, licorice, truffles, and gravel dust frame this wine’s pure cherry and berry fruits, which are dusted with spice and sprinkled with violet petals. Chewy tannins, intense minerality, zingy acidity, and substantial dry extract envelop the palate as the wine glides to a complex, lip-smacking, and lingering finish. If you’re a fan of pure, unadulterated Tuscan winemaking at its traditional best, Fontodi’s organic Chianti will make you very, very happy.

Fontodi ‘Filetta di Lamole’ Chianti Classico 2020 750ml

About Fontodi

Tenuta Fontodi has everything going for it: amazing history, terrific microclimates, outstanding skill, intense passion, and great people. The estate sits the... Conca d’Oro, or golden bowl, an ideal spot for winegrowing, and the Manetti family, who has owned the 200-acre Fontodi estate since 1968, has roots in Chianti Classico that date back to 1398, the year when Chianti had its very first official designation. Although the Manettis have been terracotta makers longer than they have been vintners, their love for Toscana drives both pursuits, and, indeed, Giovanni Manetti, Fontodi’s owner-winemaker, has been the president of the Chianti Consorzio since 2018. Fontodi has made some radical changes in recent years, including removing the Cabernet Sauvignon component of its Vigna del Sorbo, making it pure Sangiovese, and opting to vinify some of their wines in amphorae. Certified organic, thoroughly traditional, and utterly bewitching, Fontodi’s wines stand as the epitome of Tuscan elegance, and that never goes out of style.

Fontodi Vigna del Sorbo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2020 750ml

Fontodi Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo

Fontodi’s Vigna Sorbo plot sits in the Conca d’Oro directly in front of the cantina, and this prime location has... been earmarked for Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, the wine’s highest designation, since 2010. The Vigna del Sorbo bursts with lush fruits, crackles with acidic energy, wafts with pure Tuscan perfume, and fills the mouth with fine-grained tannins. Balsamic herbs, dusty earth, crushed violet petals, peppery spices, and wet river rocks frame the succulent wild berries and bright cherries of this age-worthy wine — it’s stupendous.
