Domaine Vincent Girardin

At just 19, Vincent Girardin founded his estate in the 1980s with five acres of inherited vines in the Côte de Beaune. Vincent had great vision —... but not much land — so he purchased grapes from winegrowers who shared his devotion to excellence and his passion for wine. The estate really hit its stride in the early 2000s when Vincent brought on Eric Germain to serve as chief winemaker, and together they honed the Girardin house style: pure, terroir-driven Burgundies with elegance and transparency. During this time, Giradin began to take the vineyards biodynamic, and it increased its holdings, as Vincent purchased plots, leased others, and expanded into Corton Charlemagne, Meursault Perrieres, Genevrières, Pulignys les Pucelles, and Combetes. Today Maison Vincent Gardin is just over 54 acres, and even though Vincent sold the estate in 2011 to Jean-Pierre Nié, President of the Compagnie des Vins d’Autrefois in Beaune, Eric Germain continues as winemaker, ensuring the sublime excellence of Maison Vincent Girardin wine.
