Most wine-lovers know Todd Anderson from his Napa Valley estate Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards, but the ever-restless, charismatic Todd couldn’t rest. In the late 1990s, Todd, or The Todd, as he’s referred to by his many fans, began developing a super-secret wine project. In 2000, Ghost Horse Vineyards was born. The project remains shrouded in secrecy, and wines are largely available on a subscription model. However, the reason for Ghost Horse’s cult status is the high quality and extremely low availability of the estate’s wines. Ghost Horse crafts only five Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings, each about 300-400 cases per year; occasionally, Ghost Horse also releases a Chardonnay, and that’s in the 50 cases per year range. The rare, collectable wines of Ghost Horse win prizes, but most importantly, they impress serious wine-lovers.
